Affording Housing Alliance weighs in on Issue 1

BREAKING NEW: The Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio has adopted the following position statement on Issue 1:

The Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio has deep reservations about the effect the ward system would have on the development of the needed 27,000 units of affordable housing throughout Central Ohio.

We know that meeting affordable housing goals is critical to the success of our city. Check out a great Columbus Underground article about the work of AHACO. Thank you to the members of AHACO for weighing in this important issue for Columbus’ future.

  • I am having a hard time finding affordable housing and I am disabled, who can speak for me, I am also under 60, but over 50 and don’t have 3x the rent in income, I don’t want to live in a bad neighborhood, but want to remain in Columbus, give me answers please. My disability income is $760/month the apartment I am in is falling apart, not safe for me and the steps are hard to climb. The owner doesn’t want to fix anything until I move. It was $400/month when I moved in in 2012, now $500/month, he wants to raise it to $700/month.
